# Turn Loom Recordings Into Interactive Product Demos

Convert existing Loom videos into clickable, self-guided demos without recreating the walkthrough from scratch.

Tools: Loom, Supademo

Runs: On demand

## What it is

A workflow that turns an exported Loom video, or any screen recording file, into an interactive demo using AI Command. It adds clickable hotspots and short text at the key moments and trims out dead time, and you review the result in the video editor.

## Who it is for

Customer success, onboarding and training teams who have recorded walkthroughs and want customers or new users to click through them instead of only watching.

## Why it matters

A recording lets people watch, but they can't click through it and often scrub around to find the next action. A clickable demo lets them move through each step at their own pace and learn by doing.

## Convert the recording with AI Command

Export your Loom recording as a video file and attach it in AI Command. Ask it to create an interactive demo, add hotspots at each key click and trim out dead time, and have it explain the changes before it runs the edit. Open the result in the video editor, check each hotspot, adjust the timing, and move or delete hotspots on the visual timeline. If the first pass leaves generic hotspot labels, a follow-up prompt rewrites them around the task in your video.

## What the Video Covers

- 0:00 — Demo videos only let customers watch
- 0:13 — Use AI Command (or the Supademo MCP in Claude or ChatGPT)
- 0:24 — Upload the Loom recording and ask for a clickable demo
- 0:38 — Review the clickable hotspots in the video editor
- 1:06 — Customers learn by doing, at their own pace

## Before You Start

Export your Loom (or any screen recording) as a video file, then open AI Command in Supademo. The conversion mutes the recording's original audio, so plan to add a voiceover if you want narration.

Prefer Claude or ChatGPT? The same conversion also runs through the Supademo MCP.

## Step 1: Upload the Recording and Ask for a Clickable Demo

Attach your video file in AI Command and paste:

"Create an interactive demo from this screen recording. Title it "[Your demo title]". Then edit the video into a clickable demo: add hotspots at each key click and trim out dead time. Before you run the edit, tell me what it will change and wait for my go-ahead."

AI Command creates a new demo from the recording, adds hotspots and short text at the key moments, and trims out dead time once you approve.

## Step 2: Review and Refine the Hotspots

Open the result in the video editor. Check each hotspot, adjust the timing, and move or delete hotspots on the visual timeline. If the first pass leaves generic labels, follow up with:

"Can you update the copy of the hotspots to be benefits focused and progress the viewer through the process of [the task in your video]?"

## What Customers Get

- A demo they click through instead of a recording they scrub
- A short instruction at each key click
- Control over when they move to the next step

## Wrapping Up

Try it on your next recorded walkthrough. Customers get a demo they can click through at their own pace, and you review every hotspot before you share it.

**Tips**

- Ask AI Command to tell you what the edit will change and wait for your go-ahead before it runs
- Use the follow-up prompt to rewrite generic hotspot labels around the task your video shows

**Gotchas**

- Expecting the original narration to survive, since the conversion mutes the recording's audio
- Pasting a Loom link instead of exporting the video and attaching the file

**Recommendations**

- Add a voiceover after the conversion if you want narration
- Review every hotspot in the video editor before you share the demo
