Spare about image

Challenges and problems faced by Spare

Spare is a complex platform that boasts 7+ distinct product lines that serve tens of thousands of customers across four continents. As a result, Spare serves a wide array of transportation-related use cases which necessitate unique/esoteric demos, workflows, and enablement materials for specific clients and regions. As a result, Spare faced significant challenges across pre-sales, product, marketing, and within internal communications:

Pre-Sales & Solutions Engineering

The Spare team had used video editing tools like Loom to try and create product demo videos and enablement content at high velocity — only to struggle with maintaining demo assets and spending upwards of two hours per product demo video.

This bottleneck ultimately led to slower deal velocity, time wasted, and opportunity cost within marketing, sales, and customer success functions.

Product Marketing

Spare’s product and engineering teams ship multiple releases per week, some of which require a methodical rollout plan out as part of the release process.

Typically after sales training or an announcement, the first customer question Spare receives is: “where can I find a one-pager, demo or screenshots of the UI?” The same goes for tier 1 releases for showcasing at conferences.

However, Spare struggled to find the appropriate time and resources to create documentation and demos that could keep up with the product's velocity. Whether it was enablement demos, trade show demos, or onboarding guides, Spare needed a demo automation platform that could scale with their level of pace and growth.

Product & Communications

Product Managers at Spare are required to complete a ton of ‘check the box’ items as part of the release process - including documentation, training materials, and internal demos.

While important, these steps were extremely time-consuming for PMs who simply didn't have the time to convey features and product updates both externally and internally within the organization.

The solution: leveraging Supademo for demo automation

Spare's challenges drove them to explore demo automation as a solution. While exploring product demo vendors, Spare knew they wanted a platform that was fast, intuitive, and easy for their entire team to adopt. With hundreds of employees at the company — with many of them needing to create product demos, onboarding guides, and feature tutorials — ease of use was one of their most important factors.

"Supademo has been incredibly helpful in the places where a new feature or product is better communicated through an interactive demo."

Ultimately, Spare chose Supademo, G2's Demo Automation, for its ideal balance of powerful features and simplicity. The Spare team cites Supademo as "fast and easy to use", producing top-notch, professional-quality product demos. The Supademo platform’s rate of improvement and launch velocity was also cited as a key reason for Spare's decision.

When it comes to core use cases, Spare leverages Supademo across multiple roles and departments across the organization. Some specific use cases include:

  • Creating interactive demo content for sales conferences as a supplement for sales reps;
  • Sharing highly customized, value-driven enablement demos with external leads/stakeholders;
  • Embedding across documentation, training, and onboarding to facilitate product understanding;
  • Looping in and training internal team members on key workflows and new features;
  • Spare CEO review of Supademo

    Kristoffer, Spare's CEO cited these key benefits when it comes to the Supademo platform, as per his public G2 review of Supademo:

  • Supademo frees up our solutions engineering department and helps us deliver high fidelity demos to clients for demo leave behinds, POCs, and guided walkthroughs
  • Marketing uses it to explain features and drive adoption
  • Onboarding and training uses it to help our enterprise clients get onboard
  • Product teams use this to break silos in our product and train / inform our team on new features and upcoming product lines
  • Results and outcomes from Supademo

    "We appreciate the ability to create both interactive demos and screenshots instantly, the AI annotations/translations, and the ability to overlay voiceovers to our interactive demos. These features are huge time-savers when it comes to creating enablement demos at scale."

    The time-savings derived from Supademo have been huge for the pre-sales and marketing teams in particular. A year after adopting the Supademo platform, Spare's team has now created a vast library of demos for the benefit of the entire company, which they deploy as a scalable resource both internally and externally.

    When it comes to cold, hard numbers, Supademo directly saves each pre-sales member over 10 hours per month on demo creation, prospect tracking, and training. When team-wide usage is taken into account, the savings across easily surpasses 50 hours per month across the sales team alone.

    Otherwise, Spare has been able to utilize Supademo for proactive customer support, faster client onboarding, internal selling to decision makers, and for driving feature adoption. This has resulted in faster team velocity and happier customers.

    Looking forward, Spare's team plans to continue building their enablement library, double their sales team, and leverage Supademo to keep pace with their rapid product and sales growth!

    FAQ illustration

    How does Spare use interactive demos across pre-sales and solutions engineering?

    Spare leverages Supademo across pre-sales, solutions engineering, product marketing, and internal communications. The sales enablement team creates highly customized enablement demos for external stakeholders and conference content, while product managers use demos to communicate new features internally, saving over 50 hours per month across the sales team alone.

    How much deal value has Spare accelerated through demo automation?

    Spare has accelerated over $1M+ in deal value through sales demos, enablement content, and trade show presentations built with Supademo. The State of Interactive Demos 2026 report highlights how platforms like Supademo enable pre-sales teams to deliver high-fidelity demos for POCs, guided walkthroughs, and demo leave-behinds that directly contribute to faster deal cycles.

    Why did Spare switch from Loom to Supademo for product demos?

    Spare struggled with Loom because video demos took upwards of two hours to produce, were difficult to maintain as the product evolved, and created a passive viewing experience. Supademo delivered faster creation, interactive engagement, AI annotations and translations, and a reusable demo library that scaled across their 7+ product lines.

    How do AI annotations and translations help mobility companies sell globally?

    AI annotations automatically generate descriptive text for each demo step, while AI translations localize content for different regions and languages. For Spare, which serves transit agencies across four continents, the demo recorder combines these AI features to create multilingual enablement demos at scale without manual translation work.

    How do trackable demo links help transit tech companies identify sales opportunities?

    Trackable demo links let sales teams monitor which prospects viewed demos, how far they progressed, and which features captured the most attention. Spare shares these links with external stakeholders as part of their sales demo strategy to drive internal selling and uses engagement data to identify high-intent accounts and prioritize follow-ups effectively.

    How do product teams use interactive demos to communicate new features internally?

    Product teams at Spare use Supademo to create step-by-step guides that explain new features and upcoming product lines to internal stakeholders. This breaks down silos between product, engineering, and go-to-market teams by providing visual, self-paced demos that are faster to produce and more engaging than traditional documentation or Slack messages.
