What Supademo does

How does Supademo onboard customers and answer their questions?

A Supademo Showcase called New Customer Onboarding, holding setup walkthroughs a new customer works through on their own, in this order: Invite your team, Connect your billing account, Import your contacts, Build your first workflow and Turn on notifications. The Showcase's checklist view shows 3 of 5 finished, with the rest waiting for whenever they come back.

New customers set themselves up

A Showcase of onboarding walkthroughs they can start the day they sign, at whatever hour, with no call to book first.

A help center article titled "Change your plan", filed under Help center / Billing, with an interactive walkthrough embedded in the body where the screenshots would normally sit. The reader clicks through 5 steps of the real product inside the article.

The help center article does the explaining

The walkthrough sits in the article customers already land on, so they click through the real screens instead of reading a wall of screenshots.

A support thread where the customer asks "How do I connect our billing account?" and the reply is a 4-step interactive walkthrough rather than a paragraph of instructions. The thread then shows that the customer opened it and finished every step, which is what the view data reports back.

Record the answer once, send the link, and see whether they finished it. The next person who asks gets the same link.

The job

How does Supademo help customer success managers?

Start onboarding the day they sign

  • Send a Showcase checklist with the welcome email so setup can start the day the contract is signed
  • Branching splits one setup path by feature or use case, so nobody sits through the parts that are not theirs
  • Viewers need no account. It opens in a browser tab, and views are free on every plan
  • Serve the Showcase from your own domain so the setup guide reads as part of your product rather than a vendor link

Two routes from the day a customer signs to the day they finish their first workflow, on the same 21-day scale. Waiting on the call: Signed on day 0, Kickoff call on day 6, First workflow done on day 13. Setup link in the welcome email: Signed, checklist sent on day 0, First workflow done on day 2. First value lands on day 2 instead of day 13 because the setup checklist does not wait for a meeting. The days are an example of the shape, not a customer result. Textable sends walkthroughs before customers ask and removed around 10 support hours a month.

Setup link in the welcome emailDay 2

Put the answer inside the help center article

  • Embed a walkthrough in the article itself: Zendesk, Intercom, Help Scout, Guru, Notion, or anything taking an iframe
  • Record the answer the first time somebody asks it, and it keeps answering after you close the ticket
  • The embed points at the walkthrough rather than a copy, so one edit updates every article holding that walkthrough
  • Brand the walkthrough and point its share page button at your own help center, so it reads as your documentation

Tickets asking the same question, week by week, in an example workload: W1 34, W2 31, W3 33, W4 30, W5 21, W6 15, W7 12, W8 11. The walkthrough was embedded in the help center article at W5, and the weekly average falls from 32 before it to 15 after. The counts are an example of the shape, not a customer result. RareCircles built a knowledge base of embedded walkthroughs and says it saves hours of redundant support work.

Answer inside the product, at the step where they stall

  • A Demo Hub is a searchable library your users open from a launcher in your app when they are stuck
  • One snippet installs it. Adding and reordering walkthroughs afterwards needs no release
  • Fire a specific walkthrough on a click or an event, so a first visit to billing gets the billing one
  • They run on our side rather than hooking into elements in your interface, so a redesign does not break them

Your own product with a Supademo Demo Hub open over it. The user clicks a launcher in the corner, types "billing", and gets a searchable library grouped into Getting started (Connect your billing account, Invite your team) and Billing (Change your plan, Add a purchase order). The hub is installed with one snippet and filled from the workspace, and the walkthroughs are not anchored to elements in your interface, so a redesign on your side cannot break them.

Your product

Search walkthroughs
Getting started
Connect your billing account
Invite your team
Billing
Change your plan
Add a purchase order

One snippet installs the hub. What goes in it is workspace work after that, and the walkthroughs are not pinned to elements in your interface, so a redesign cannot break them.

See which answers land, and which one to fix

  • Views, engagement and completion per walkthrough, plus drop-off per step, so you can name what loses people
  • Session detail per viewer, and per account once someone gives an email, across everything they opened
  • Export the raw viewer data as CSV on any paid plan and put it next to your ticket volume
  • Engagement syncs to HubSpot, Salesforce and Marketo, so the account team sees it without opening Supademo

Of 1,000 sessions on one walkthrough in an example report: Finished every step, 610; Left at step 4, Connect your data, 251; Left on step 1, 139. That names the step worth fixing, since "Left at step 4, Connect your data" is 25% of everyone who opened it. The counts are an example of the report, not a customer result. Analytics reports views, engagement, completion and per-step drop-off, with session detail for each viewer and CSV export on any paid plan.

Left at step 4, Connect your data251

FAQ illustration

Does Supademo embed in our help center?

Anywhere that accepts an embed. We publish the steps for Zendesk, Intercom, Help Scout, Freshdesk, Document360, GitBook, Guru, HelpJuice, Confluence, Mintlify and Notion on the Supademo integrations page, and anything else that takes an iframe works the same way.

One thing to know before you start: Intercom articles do not accept a custom domain, so those embeds have to use the app.supademo.com link rather than your branded one.

Does Supademo charge for every customer who opens a walkthrough?

No. You pay for creator seats, the people who record and edit. Views and viewers are unlimited and free on every plan, including Free. Your audience is every customer you have, so this is usually the number that decides whether a rollout is affordable.

See pricing for the plan comparison; annual billing saves around a quarter.

Can we put Supademo walkthroughs inside our own product?

Yes, two ways. A Demo Hub is an in-app widget with its own launcher and search, installed with one snippet, and you fill and reorder it from the workspace afterwards without another release.

You can also trigger a single walkthrough as a modal on a click or an event. They are not tooltips anchored to a button in your live interface, which is why a redesign cannot break them and also why they cannot point at one specific element on your screen.

What does Supademo translation cover for customers who do not speak English?

AI generates the voiceover, and a finished walkthrough translates into 15+ languages from the same recording, with viewers switching language themselves. You can clone one voice so every walkthrough sounds like the same person.

The text stays editable after translation, which matters because a machine translation of your own product terms is worth reading through before you publish it. Nothing you record is used to train AI models.

What happens to a Supademo walkthrough when the product changes?

Every embed points at the walkthrough itself, so an edit is live everywhere it appears and nobody re-embeds anything. You can re-record a single step instead of the whole flow, and AI Command applies one plain-English instruction across many walkthroughs at once.

What the product will not do is notice the change for you: you still need to know which walkthroughs a release touched, which is why teams keep the library small enough to own.

What does Supademo show a customer success manager about who watched?

Analytics covers views, engagement and completion for each walkthrough, drop-off for each step, and session detail per viewer.

Viewers who give you an email are tracked by account across everything they open. Our MCP server reads the same data from Claude or ChatGPT, so you can ask which walkthrough gets abandoned most. You can export the raw viewer data as CSV on any paid plan, and engagement syncs to HubSpot, Salesforce and Marketo so the account owner sees it in the tool they live in.

Does Supademo replace our help center or our onboarding calls?

Neither. The walkthrough lives inside your help center article rather than replacing the article, and most teams keep the kickoff call. What changes is what the call is for: setup clicks that a customer could have done on their own the week before become questions about their actual workflow.

How do customer success teams actually run Supademo?

Usually one or two people own the library and record answers as questions come in, which is the whole skill. RareCircles built a knowledge base of embedded walkthroughs and says it saves hours of redundant support work.

Textable sends them before customers ask and removed around 10 support hours a month. Rev.io produces client-facing how-to guides in hours rather than weeks.
