Turn Your Employee Handbook Into a Self-Service AI Agent
Give new hires instant answers to common questions with an AI agent trained on your existing handbook.
Before you start
- Have your employee handbook ready to upload
- Make interactive walkthroughs for the tasks new hires ask about most. If you've never made one, record your first with the Supademo Chrome extension
How it works
In Supademo, create an AI demo agent and choose Set up with AI. It asks seven questions: your company website, the agent's goal, what to focus on, your employee handbook, the walkthroughs it can show, when to hand off to a person, and where to send people for anything else. Supademo builds the agent from your answers. You try it as a new hire, publish it, and share the link. From then on, every question it couldn't answer shows up as a knowledge gap.

Answer the Seven Setup Questions
In Supademo, create an AI demo agent and choose Set up with AI. It asks for:
- Your company website
- The agent's goal
- What to focus on, such as first-week setup, time off and expenses
- Your employee handbook
- The interactive walkthroughs it can show
- When to hand off to a person, such as pay, legal questions or someone's personal situation
- Where to send people for anything else, such as your HR portal
There's no prompt to write. Supademo builds the agent from your answers.

Try It, Then Publish and Share
Ask the agent a few questions a new hire would ask. Check that it answers from the handbook, opens a walkthrough when someone asks how to do something, and redirects questions outside its focus instead of guessing. Then publish it and share the link with new hires.

Work Through the Knowledge Gaps
Every question the agent couldn't answer is logged as a knowledge gap. Treat that list as your handbook's to-do list: add the missing answers, and the agent can answer them next time.
What New Hires Get
- Answers from the handbook when they need them, without waiting on a manager
- A walkthrough they can click through for tasks they need to do
- A person to talk to for the topics that need one
Tips
- Pick a few focus topics new hires actually ask about, like first-week setup, time off and expenses
- Add walkthroughs for the tasks people ask how to do, so the agent can show the steps instead of describing them
- Review the knowledge gaps regularly and add the missing answers to your handbook
- Point people to your HR portal for anything outside what you set the agent up for
Watch out for
- Treating the share link as private: anyone with the link can open it, so embed the agent in your intranet or onboarding tool if your handbook includes confidential policies
- Letting the agent answer pay, legal or personal questions instead of setting those topics to hand off to a person
Your handbook already has most of the answers new hires need. Turning it into an agent puts those answers in front of them, and the knowledge gaps show you what to write next.
